Platte City Tourney Championship Game

The Wildcats fell to the Platte City Pirates in the Championship Game of the Platte City Tournament on Friday night. The tourney was a great opportunity for the team to come together early in the season and you could see the team building momentum as the tournament progressed. Good job Cats!

Judith got some great photos of the game. Check out the "Wildcat Soccer Photos" in the links to the right.

Sedalia Pictures

Sedalia pictures are uploading to the Album site now. Here is one to enjoy while you wait. At two megs a piece and 126 pictures it could take all night to download the rest of em.

Sedalia Smith Cotton

The Wildcats came away with a huge win tonight against conference rival Sedalia Smith Cotton in the Semi-Final Round of the Platte City tournament. After coming in second during bracket play to Platte City Monday night, the Wildcats rallied to take down the B bracket #1 team. Sedalia had shutout their first round opponents 7-0 and 8-0. This would not be an easy team to beat.

Scoring midway through the first half, Harrisonville fought hard to maintain their 1 point lead into halftime. Sedalia stepped up the pressure coming into the second half but still couldn't keep the Wildcats from scoring a second goal early in the half. Sedalia continued to press the pace and worked hard to break through Harrisonville's defense, scoring from a crossing blast from inside the penalty box.

If Sedalia could score one more and tie, they would move on to the championship round. If Harrisonville held on for the win, the Cats earned a ticket to the finals.

The defense played tough and were able to keep numbers behind the ball while still pressing forward for quick counter attacks. It seemed that the final ten minutes took forever as play after play the defense was tested and held, tested again and found solid. Sara Clarke had an amazing night in goal as she snuffed shot after shot. The entire team played defense and offense. It was great to see the girls working so well together this early in the season.

It is still up in the air which team Harrisonville will play tomorrow night but just looking at bracket play, I would guess they will face Platte City again tomorrow night for the Tournament Championship. Well done Ladies!

I'll be posting picture later tonight. Check the link to the right for more photos. We have unlimited space to post pictures there. There are a few good ones but many are a bit blury. Sorry for the quality. I had a poor choice of settings on the camera last night.

Here is the link.

High School Team Previews

I found some interesting preseason preview (somewhat biased as they were written by the coaches themselves) but it gives a little insight into who the girls will be facing this year.
